Rautahat District, Nepal — In an effort to support vulnerable communities facing food insecurity, Iqra Educational And Association Development recently carried out a food basket distribution project for poor and needy families in Rautahat District.
The initiative aimed to provide immediate relief to households struggling to meet their basic food needs due to economic hardship. A total of 50 families benefited from the distribution, which was conducted in an organized and respectful manner to ensure fairness and dignity.
Each food basket contained essential daily-use items including rice, wheat flour, cooking oil, gram (lentils), onions, garlic, potatoes, sugar, packet milk, salt, soybeans, and other basic grocery items. These items were selected based on local dietary habits so that families could immediately use the assistance.
Food insecurity remains a serious challenge in many rural parts of Nepal, especially for daily wage workers, widows, elderly individuals, and families with irregular income. Programs like this food basket distribution help reduce immediate stress on households and allow families to focus on health, work, and children’s education.
Iqra Educational And Association Development has been actively engaged in humanitarian and welfare activities across Nepal, focusing on food security, clean water access, shelter support, education, and community welfare. The organization follows a community-based approach, working closely with local volunteers to identify deserving families and deliver aid responsibly.
Beneficiary families expressed appreciation for the timely support, noting that the food baskets would help them manage household needs for several days. Local community members also highlighted the importance of such initiatives in times of economic difficulty.

The food basket distribution in Rautahat District reflects the organization’s ongoing commitment to supporting poor and vulnerable communities through practical and compassionate interventions.
